The man serving a life in jail for murdering BBC TV presenter Jill Dando has won the right to a second appeal. The Criminal Cases Review Commission says it is to refer the case of Barry George back to the Court of Appeal. George was found guilty by a majority verdict of 10 to one in 2001, two years after the BBC presenter was shot dead on her doorstep in Fulham. The commission says too much weight had been placed on the forensic evidence, which involved a single speck of residue from the gun used to kill Dando being found in the pocket of George’s coat.
