In brief
The Office for Judicial Complaints (OJC) received 1,674 separate complaints against judicial office holders in its first year, according to its Annual Report 2006–07. Of the complaints received by the OJC between April 2006 and March 2007, disciplinary action was taken in 32 cases; of these, 15 magistrates were removed from office. Complaints against judges and coroners go straight to the OJC, while complaints against tribunal office holders and magistrates can be referred by tribunal presidents and advisory committees if they could result in disciplinary action. The full report can be found at www.judicialcomplaints.gov.uk.
