Arbitration developments in Middle East

Commercial arbitration centres are being set up across the Middle East. The Turkish Parliament passed a law last week to establish the Istanbul Arbitration Centre, while Saudi Arabia established a new Saudi Centre for Commercial Arbitration in April, and the Jerusalem Arbitration Center opened in November 2013. Silke Kumpf, arbitration specialist at Brown Rudnick, welcomes the new Turkish centre and says it is a sign of growth given Turkey’s status as the 17th largest economy worldwide.
