Association of Corporate Counsel Europe—Hans Albers

Association elects Juniper Networks chief of staff to second term as president

The Association of Corporate Counsel Europe (ACC Europe), an organisation representing more than 2,900 in-house lawyers across Europe, has announced the re-election of Hans Albers to his second term as president of its board of directors.

Based in the Netherlands, Hans has spent more than eight years at Juniper Networks, where he serves as chief of staff and associate general counsel. He was first elected as the president of ACC Europe in October 2018, and oversaw a number of new initiatives regarding legal resources, education, advocacy, and networking. For his next term, Hans plans to expand chapter programming on legal technology, as well as grow resources and conversations on diversity and inclusion.

In addition to Hans’ re-election, ACC Europe also welcomed to the board vice president Steve Leroy, of United Group BV in the UK; secretary Jeremy Barton of KPMG UK; and treasurer Eva Argiles Malonda of Applus Services SA in Spain.

Hans commented: ‘Today's volatile and evolving business climate makes it more important than ever for in-house lawyers to have a strong peer network and access to trusted resources. I am particularly excited to share the insights of our recently launched diversity and inclusion working group with our members. It is this type of quality content and networking connections that European in-house lawyers find through ACC Europe, and I look forward to continue serving our members in the year ahead.’

Timing is everything—and the Court of Appeal has delivered clarity on when proceedings are ‘brought’. In his latest 'Civil way' column for NLJ, Stephen Gold explains that a claim is issued for limitation purposes when the claim form is delivered to the court, even if fees are underpaid
The traditional ‘single, intensive day’ of financial dispute resolution (FDR) may be due for a rethink. Writing in NLJ this week, Rachel Frost-Smith and Lauren Guiler of Birketts propose a ‘split FDR’ model, separating judicial evaluation from negotiation
