Boodle Hatfield—Navpreet Atwal

New partner joins firm’s property practice

Private wealth law firm Boodle Hatfield has recently appointed construction specialist Navpreet Atwal as a partner in its property practice. Navpreet joins Boodle Hatfield from Blake Morgan where she was a legal director.

Navpreet advises owners, developers, contractors, consultants, private equity investors, and institutional lenders on major construction projects across the globe. Significant work she has undertaken includes construction due diligence advice on the £1bn acquisition and financing of an office tower in London and advice on a $1.2bn development consisting of hotels, casinos, commercial centres and a residential complex.

Navpreet was shortlisted for the 'Legal Adviser of the Year' award at the Women in Finance Awards 2018. The Women in Finance Awards celebrate the individuals and organisations leading change, breaking down barriers and creating new possibilities for equal representation in the world of finance.

Simon Williams, partner and head of property at Boodle Hatfield, said: ‘We’re excited to have Navpreet join us here at Boodle Hatfield. Her experience of advising on projects of very substantial scope and scale is a great fit for our property and construction practice.’

Navpreet commented: ‘I am thrilled to be joining Boodle Hatfield as a partner in the property team. The firm has an exceptionally strong reputation in that sector augmented by an enviable client following. I am looking forward to adding to Boodle Hatfield’s existing practice areas and collaborating with my new colleagues across different sectors.’

Timing is everything—and the Court of Appeal has delivered clarity on when proceedings are ‘brought’. In his latest 'Civil way' column for NLJ, Stephen Gold explains that a claim is issued for limitation purposes when the claim form is delivered to the court, even if fees are underpaid
The traditional ‘single, intensive day’ of financial dispute resolution (FDR) may be due for a rethink. Writing in NLJ this week, Rachel Frost-Smith and Lauren Guiler of Birketts propose a ‘split FDR’ model, separating judicial evaluation from negotiation
