Global firm bolsters cross-border M&A team in London

International firm Brown Rudnick has strengthened its M&A team with the addition of Philip Watkins as a private equity partner in the London office. He joins the firm from Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP, alongside counsel Victoria Rodley.

Philip has moved to Brown Rudnick after almost five years as a partner with his previous firm, and also formerly spent six years as a partner with Hogan Lovells. With ample experience in the corporate and commercial field, he focuses his practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, as well as private equity transactions, joint ventures, buyouts and restructurings. His key clients include private equity house Inflexion Capital, Middle East media group Rotana Group, and international higher education provider Galileo Global Education.

Commenting on the appointment, Philip stated: ‘Brown Rudnick has a well-earned reputation as one of the leading corporate and capital markets law firms based on the quality of its lawyers and a proven track record for handling complex transactions across multiple markets and jurisdictions. I am delighted to be joining the firm and look forward to playing a key role in the continued success and growth of the corporate team.’

Joining alongside Philip as counsel, Victoria Rodley has over ten years of experience in corporate matters, and frequently handles M&A deals, strategic investments, group reorganisations and private equity matters.

Brown Rudnick’s CEO Joseph Ryan commented: ‘A recognized corporate practitioner, Philip brings a wealth of skill and experience to our Corporate & Capital Markets practice. Philip and Victoria's appointments are well timed as we continue to expand our client service across key global markets.’

The firm’s international chair of the corporate practice, Mark Dorff, added: ‘Philip’s deep and varied private equity experience dovetails seamlessly with Brown Rudnick’s existing blue chip real estate private equity work.’
