Law firm appoints property consultant and senior counsel

Charles Russell Speechlys has recently announced the appointment of Alastair Morrison as a property consultant within the in the firm’s landed estates and heritage property group in the Cheltenham office, and Jeremy Arnold who joins as Senior Counsel within the tax trusts and succession group in the London office.

Alastair (pictured, right) joins the firm from Burges Salmon where he previously headed up the rural property team within the real estate department. Much of his work centres around the purchase, sale, leasing and mortgaging of rural property. He also advises on complex farming structures and the post-Brexit agriculture policy.

Alastair is well versed in guiding his client base of institutions, family trusts, landed estates and high net worth individuals through issues relating to the ownership and occupation of rural property. This ranges from development clawback and shooting rights to rural grants and subsidies.

Commenting on his appointment, Alastair said: 'This is a very exciting new chapter in my career. I am delighted to join the Charles Russell Speechlys property group and to work alongside a team of formidable colleagues'.

Jeremy Arnold (pictured, left) joins from Withers, where he previously held the position of partner and joint CEO of the private client and tax division.

Jeremy help set up and lead one of the largest Family Offices in Europe for eight years. Jeremy’s roster of clients includes well known high net worth individuals, family offices and entrepreneurs based in the UK and around the world. His multi-jurisdictional offering and significant expertise in advising clients on overseas financial planning matters mean he has a multifaceted approach to wealth planning.

Speaking of his appointment, Jeremy said: 'It is a pivotal time in the firm’s international growth trajectory, and I look forward to the strides we can make together in the private wealth sphere.'
