Firm announces double hire of art law specialists

Charles Russell Speechlys has strengthened its art law practice with the double hire of partners Tim Maxwell and Rudy Capildeo.

Both Tim and Rudy will join the firm on 1 April from Boodle Hatfield. Tim, who co-headed the art group at his former firm, is an international commercial litigator who specialises in art matters. He advises corporate, institutional and individual clients on matters including misattribution, authenticity and recovery claims.

Rudy is an experienced non-contentious commercial art lawyer who advises a wide range of clients including private collectors, galleries, artists, and specialist financiers. He advises on all stages from the sale and purchase of art through to art and luxury asset finance, and also offers expertise in the classic car and fine wine markets.

Charles Russell Speechlys’ managing partner James Carter said: ‘Art is an increasingly important asset class for our international clients, and with offices in all of the world’s art centres outside of the US, we are ideally positioned to serve them.

‘With this significant double hire we are showing our commitment to our clients in the global private wealth market, be they individuals, families, or successful businesses. We are delighted to welcome Tim and Rudy to our firm.’
