Drug, alcohol and DNA testing laboratory AlphaBiolabs has made a £500 donation to North West charity Child Concern as part of its Giving Back campaign

For every testing instruction AlphaBiolabs receives from family law and social work professionals, the company enters the name of the customer into a bimonthly charity draw. The randomly selected customer can then nominate a charity of their choice to receive a £500 donation.

Sarah Hodson, paralegal at McAlister Family Law in Manchester, was randomly selected in the company’s latest draw and nominated Child Concern in recognition of the valuable and practical support it provides for dealing with legal childcare cases.

Child Concern was founded in 1990 and aims to improve the knowledge and practice of professionals and agencies working with children and their families in the context of legal proceedings. Its members include solicitors, social workers, barristers, psychologists, psychiatrists, paediatricians and other health professionals.

The charity provides specialist training and seminars covering everything from the latest legislative changes affecting children’s cases, to safeguarding and protecting children within the care system.

Julie Doyle, Chair of Child Concern, said: ‘We are extremely grateful to Sarah and AlphaBiolabs for this generous donation. As a non-profit organisation, contributions like this enable us to continue the vital work we do, and the monies will be used to facilitate the delivery of our specialist training sessions.’

Rachel Davenport, director at AlphaBiolabs, said: ‘Child Concern plays a fundamental role in knowledge-sharing among individuals and organisations who make critical welfare decisions for children. As a testing laboratory with first-hand experience of working with vulnerable children and families, we are delighted to be able to support them with this latest donation.’

The next Giving Back charity draw will take place at the end of June.
