Pair honoured for lifetime achievement at the UK Bar Awards

The 2018 Chambers and Partners Bar Awards, currently the only awards ceremony dedicated solely to the UK Bar, were held on 25 October 2018 at The London Hilton on Park Lane. Among the night’s winners were Outer Temple Chambers’ Christine Kings, and Michael Brindle QC, both of whom were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Christine Kings (pictured) was the first non-clerk to be appointed to a practice management position in a set of chambers. She also co-founded the Legal Practice Management Association (LPMA) in 1996 alongside Edith Robertson, acting as its joint chair until the LPMA’s 21st anniversary last year.

Michael Brindle QC of Fountain Court Chambers has enjoyed a legal career spanning more than 40 years, in which time he has handled some of the most prominent finance cases in English legal history. He was appointed a Deputy High Court Judge in 2000, is the former chairman of the Commercial Bar Association, and Special Adviser to the Attorney General of Singapore in 2015.

Chambers and Partners’ UK Bar editor, James Cowdell, said: ‘Our Chambers and Partners Lifetime Achievers awards are given to lawyers and practice leaders who have had a significant and lasting impact on the legal profession, individuals who have made contributions to the Bar that go above and beyond the development of their own practice or the success of their chambers.’

‘The recognition that both have received from their peers is richly deserved. On behalf of everyone at Chambers and Partners, I congratulate and thank Christine Kings and Michael Brindle QC for their significant contributions and for generously inspiring others.’
