The new president of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), Millicent Grant (pictured left) will be campaigning for more CILEx members in the judiciary. Grant, who became CILEx’s 54th President last week, said: ‘There is currently a cap on how far CILEx members can progress in the judiciary, and alongside our new judicial development programme, we will be lobbying for the removal of this artificial barrier so that there is parity with solicitors and barristers.’
Grant has run her own consultancy advising and investigating employment law matters since 2006. She became a Fellow of the Institute in 1991, and has worked both in private practice and in-house in the public sector. During her tenure, she will preside over significant regulatory reform. CILEx is due to introduce a new, more transparent governance structure from January 2018.
