Charity strengthens leadership team with appointment of general counsel

Mental health specialist St Andrew’s Healthcare has appointed Claire Carless as general counsel and company secretary.

An accomplished lawyer and general counsel, Claire has substantial experience in managing complex corporate and commercial projects, and ensuring effective corporate governance for major global corporates. 

Having started her career in private practice, Claire went on to hold senior roles in RWE and Vodafone. Her most recent position was general counsel for Siemens plc in the UK. 

Claire spent four years as a non-executive director for South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust, and is currently a member of the Audit and Scrutiny Committee for the University of Oxford.

Gil Baldwin, chief executive officer for St Andrew’s Healthcare, said: “Claire is an important addition to the team, and she will play a vital role in shaping our progress towards becoming a world class mental healthcare provider. Her corporate experience is a real asset to the Charity.”

Claire adds: “I’m delighted to join St Andrew’s. The charity is already leading the field in many areas of patient care and has ambitious plans for the future. I am proud to be able to play a part in the organisation’s ongoing journey.”
