CLC launches trainee recruitment drive

The Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) has launched a campaign, ‘Project 2,000 lawyers’, for an extra 2,000 trainee licensed conveyancers by 2030

The CLC said demand for conveyancing and probate practitioners is easily outpacing supply. There are currently about 10,000 authorised persons working in conveyancing, compared to 13,000 in 2021.

The CLC is calling for the creation of a Technical Excellence College (TEC) for conveyancing and probate.

CLC chief executive Sheila Kumar also urged more education bodies to provide CLC qualifications to help tackle ‘the under-supply of licensed conveyancing and probate lawyers’.
