Two partners return to Clyde & Co

Global law firm Clyde & Co has announced the appointment of Isabel Simpson as a data and digital partner in London. She will rejoin the firm on 16 December, having previously worked for Clyde & Co for nine years.  Also rejoining the firm, Charlie Robin returns to Clyde & Co as partner in the firm’s aviation liability practice in London. Charlie is due to return on 6 January 2025 after joining Kennedy’s in 2023.

Isabel (pictured) joins from KPMG where she headed up the organisation’s Data, Digital and Technology practice group for the EMEA region. She is recognised as a leader within data, digital ethics and data privacy and has strong relationships with the insurance sector, regulators, and government. She also advises organisations in the banking and 'BigTech' sectors on the evolving digital and online regulatory environment.

Isabel’s arrival reflects Clyde & Co’s continued investment in its data protection and privacy practice, in response to significant growth and development within the digital and data market.

Mark Williamson, partner, Clyde & Co comments: 'Our clients understand the heightened data risks that go hand in hand with increased digital transformation and technology investment. Isabel’s return to Clyde & Co strengthens our technology, data and outsourcing practice and allows us to continue providing the advice and support our clients are seeking as the sector evolves at pace.'

Isabel Simpson adds: 'I am looking forward to rejoining Clyde & Co, having seen first-hand the strength of the firm’s knowledge and client service offering. At such a crucial time for the industry, I am confident that this is the right place to continue growing my practice.'

The digital and data market is one of the fastest growing markets in legal services in the UK. Clyde & Co’s team brings together experience from a range of sectors and advises organisations including retailers, insurers, hospitals, financial institutions and governments across the world on the full range of tech, data, cyber security, resilience and digital issues.

Charlie Robin advises airlines, helicopter operators, airports and handling agents on all aspects of aviation liability and insurance matters. He brings with him a wealth of experience and strong relationships within the industry where he has handled a full spectrum of claims. These range from major loss to attritional claims including subrogation, debt recovery, sanctions and coverage issues.

Charlie’s experience also extends to advising various air carriers on their conditions of carriage, advising on commercial aviation agreements and handling matters involving EU consumer rights legislation. He has a particular focus on the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa and North America.

Kevin Sutherland, partner and head of the global aviation practice at Clyde & Co, comments: 'Charlie is widely respected in the industry and brings a deep, forward-looking understanding of the aviation sector. He will be an asset to the practice as we continue to evolve in response to our clients’ needs. We welcome his return to the firm.'

Charlie Robin comments: 'I am excited to rejoin Clyde & Co and work with the team once again. I look forward to contributing to the growth of the aviation liability practice and building on the strong client relationships for which it is renowned.'
