Partners elect new senior partner

The partners of Collas Crill have elected Jason Green as the firm's senior partner.

The role of Senior Partner encompasses being an ambassador for the Collas Crill group across its offices in Guernsey, Jersey, Cayman and BVI, and raising its profile across the globe. As the most senior figure, Jason will be involved in the strategic direction and decision making of the firm.

Jason is a partner in the Guernsey Property team and headed up the team until December 2020. He joined Collas Day and Rowland, as it then was, in 1994 and has been integrally involved in the development and growth of the firm over almost three decades.

Jason has over the years been involved in most of the largest commercial transactions in Guernsey, whether acting for seller, buyer, lender, landlord or tenant.

Of his appointment as senior partner Jason Green said: 'I am thrilled to start this new chapter of my professional life at Collas Crill. I am looking forward to being involved in the strategic decision making for the firm but also doing my best to raise the profile of the firm and supporting our partners, lawyers and support staff in their day to day lives at Collas Crill.'

Group managing partner Jason Romer said: 'Jason's near 30 years of commitment and devotion to the firm, and the value that he has brought, and continues to bring, to Collas Crill has been inspiring to me and to his fellow partners, past and present.

'I would like to wish him much success in the role and have no doubt that he will continue to add value to the Partnership, the firm and staff across the group, as well as championing Collas Crill's commitment to giving back to our local communities.'

Comparators remain the fault line of discrimination law. In this week's NLJ, Anjali Malik, partner at Bellevue Law, and Mukhtiar Singh, barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, review a bumper year of appellate guidance clarifying how tribunals should approach ‘actual’ and ‘evidential’ comparators. A new six-stage framework stresses a simple starting point: identify the treatment first
In cross-border divorces, domicile can decide everything. In NLJ this week, Jennifer Headon, legal director and head of international family, Isobel Inkley, solicitor, and Fiona Collins, trainee solicitor, all at Birketts LLP, unpack a Court of Appeal ruling that re-centres nuance in jurisdiction disputes. The court held that once a domicile of choice is established, the burden lies on the party asserting its loss
Early determination is no longer a novelty in arbitration. In NLJ this week, Gustavo Moser, arbitration specialist lawyer at Lexis+, charts the global embrace of summary disposal powers, now embedded in the Arbitration Act 1996 and mirrored worldwide. Tribunals may swiftly dismiss claims with ‘no real prospect of succeeding’, but only if fairness is preserved
The Ministry of Justice is once again in the dock as access to justice continues to deteriorate. NLJ consultant editor David Greene warns in this week's issue that neither public legal aid nor private litigation funding looks set for a revival in 2026
