Despite current controversy over the increase to court fees, the Ministry of Justice intends to consult on increasing the maximum fee further from £10,000 to £20,000, plus a 10% increase in other civil court fees, as well as increases to fees for possession and divorce proceedings. It all feels a bit “piecemeal”, writes Nichola Evans, partner at Browne Jacobson, in this week’s NLJ. Is there a danger that high-quality litigation “will disappear altogether”?
