DAC Beachcroft—Alex Stovold

Firm hires leading aviation partner
International law firm DAC Beachcroft has announced the appointment of Alex Stovold as aviation partner in its global insurance practice in London. Alex will start with DACB in July, having been a partner at Clyde & Co.

Alex specialises in aviation work for insurers and reinsurers, with a focus on general aviation, as well as subrogation recoveries, product liability and coverage advice. Much of his work is multi-jurisdictional, and he has particular experience of Latin America and southern Africa, dealing with losses in Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and Tanzania.

Liam O’Connell, head of DAC Beachcroft’s global insurance practice in London, said: ‘This appointment is another significant step in the continued growth of our market-leading global insurance offering to meet the needs of our clients.’

‘Alex brings with him extensive experience of handling high-profile and complex losses and litigation in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central and South America. His experience and leading reputation will enhance our aviation capabilities and enable us to continue building an offering that is a substantive competitor in the industry.’

Helen Faulkner, DAC Beachcroft’s head of insurance, commented: ‘The growth of our international capability is crucial to ensuring we are effectively serving the growing requirements of the global insurance industry.

‘In addition to opening in Paris recently and expanding in Madrid, we are always on the lookout for top talent to bolster our capabilities. Alex’s hire follows a year of considerable growth for our global insurance team in London, which saw Liam O’Connell and a seven-strong team of senior insurance lawyers join from Norton Rose Fulbright.’
