A controversial and long-awaited plan to create more transparency in the family justice system could be announced next month. Plans to open up the family courts to the media and even to the public have been circulating for years. However, The Times reported this week that Justice Secretary Jack Straw is planning to announce a shake-up next month. Sir Mark Potter, President of the Family Division, has supported media access.
