Dublin disputes team announces strategic partner appointment

Fieldfisher Ireland LLP has appointed Dermot McEvoy as partner in its Dublin litigation and dispute resolution practice. Dermot brings more than 30 years of experience in construction and infrastructure disputes, commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution, marking a key expansion of the firm’s capabilities in high-value, cross-border matters.

Dermot joins from Eversheds Sutherland and will work closely with Killian O’Reilly’s Irish team and Dan Preston’s UK construction and projects team. A CEDR-accredited mediator for over two decades, Dermot offers a full spectrum of ADR services including adjudication, conciliation, expert determination and arbitration. His clients have included major developers, insurers, med tech firms and engineering companies.

Ranked Band 2 by both Legal 500 and Chambers Europe, Dermot is praised for being ‘excellent at managing relationships and keeping everyone engaged’ and ‘a very hands-on lawyer’ who ‘sees a commercial route through problems.’ JP McDowell, managing partner, said: ‘Dermot’s client-first approach and leadership in complex disputes make him a fantastic addition to our team.’

Dermot commented: ‘Fieldfisher’s reputation for excellence and collaboration—both in Ireland and internationally—was a major draw for me… I look forward to working with colleagues across Ireland and the UK to help clients navigate their most challenging disputes.’ His appointment reflects Fieldfisher’s strategic commitment to growth in Ireland and integrated dispute resolution services across jurisdictions.
