Halsbury Legal Awards charity partnership

Halsbury Legal Awards welcome ILBF as 2016 charity partner

The International Law Book Facility (ILBF) has been announced as the charity partner for the 2016 Halsbury Legal Awards cementing a partnership created over a decade ago.

In 10 years of operation, the ILBF has sent nearly 30,000 books to over 100 organisations in 42 countries. ILBF trustee Katrina Crossley says this has only been possible because of the tremendous support the ILBF has received from across the legal community: “The impact of the books is long lasting—from helping advocates to formulate robust arguments, judges to adjudicate effectively, law students to qualify, advisers to help the most vulnerable and law makers to update their laws. Across the globe, the need for good quality UK law books is as great as ever.”

Christian Fleck, managing director for LexisNexis UK and Ireland, says: “As a business, we are committed to advancing the rule of law around the world.  The sharing of legal knowledge and best practice is a vital part of that, which makes the ILBF an ideal charity partner for us.

“Knowledge of and access to the laws can help to protect basic human rights, as well as advance legal practice and the development of laws.  As such, the importance of providing quality legal texts to practitioners, students, prisoners and administrators around the world cannot be underestimated, and this is where the ILBF plays a pivotal role. The future success of the ILBF relies on continued backing from both within and outside the legal profession.”

The awards, held in association with NLJ, celebrate the exceptional achievements of individuals and organisations across the legal sector. Winners will be announced at a celebratory dinner in central London on 29 September.
