Haynes Boone has appointed Philipp Kurek as a partner in its London office, bolstering its international arbitration capabilities as global disputes activity increases. The firm said the hire would strengthen support for clients across sectors including energy, mining and metals.
Kurek joins from Signature Litigation, where he was a partner in the London office and helped grow the firm’s international arbitration practice. Before that, he spent more than a decade at Kirkland & Ellis, where he trained, qualified and later became a partner focused on investment arbitration.
His practice covers investor-state and cross-border commercial arbitration, with experience acting in disputes under ICSID and UNCITRAL rules as well as major institutional arbitration regimes. He has advised clients across Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the US in sectors including energy, infrastructure, telecommunications and financial services.
Nick Davis, managing partner of Haynes Boone’s London office, said: ‘Philipp’s arrival reinforces our continued investment in capabilities that are critical to our clients.’ Kurek added: ‘Haynes Boone is at an exciting point in its growth, particularly in London. There is a clear ambition to grow the London office and the international arbitration practice.’
