HFW

Nine partners promoted across the globe

Global firm HFW has announced its largest promotions round, appointing six partners in the UK, as well as an additional three partners globally and three legal directors.

The London promotions have bolstered the firm’s shipping practice: Christopher Garley and Alessio Sbraga, both shipping disputes specialists, join the partnership, as do ship finance experts Gudmund Bernitz and William MacLachlan. Alex Sayegh, who also focuses on ship finance, has been promoted to legal director. London-based energy disputes lawyer Vanessa Tattersall, and construction and engineering specialist Richard Booth, have also received partner promotions.

Elsewhere, an additional three HFW members will join the partnership as part of the promotional round: Terence Liew, an aviation insurance expert in the firm’s Singapore office; and commercial litigator Vincent Bénézech, and insurance and reinsurance specialist Iris Vögeding, both in Paris. The two additional legal directors both focus their practices on shipping: Philip Carney in Piraeus, and Erica Chan in Hong Kong.

HFW’s global senior partner Richard Crump (pictured) said: ‘This record promotion round reflects our significant growth across our international network and our global industry groups, and is a sign of our continued commitment to investing in our people. It is not only our largest ever promotions round globally, but also our largest in London and in our market-leading shipping group. I would like to congratulation each of the lawyers and wish them every success in the next stage of their careers.’
