Reputation defence, privacy & sports boutique opens for business

Three reputation and privacy experts have come together to launch new law firm Himsworth Scott in Mayfair.

The specialist reputation defence, privacy and sports law boutique has been established by co-founders Matt Himsworth, Jess Lovell and Chris Scott. Previously, Matt (left) and Jess (centre) were respectively the founder and director of Himsworth Legal, which operated throughout the last six years, and advised clients including global financial and sporting institutions. Chris (right) has worked at Schillings for the last 13 years, six of which were in a partner position.

Himsworth Scott has been established in North Audley Street in Mayfair, with an initial team of six lawyers.

Commenting on the new venture, Matt said: ‘We have a great track record over the past six years as Himsworths Legal, working for great clients from banks to sports clubs on a broad range of their reputation and commercial matters. But when the opportunity came to evolve the business, and to take it to the next level, everything immediately felt right. The three of us worked in a team previously, so it is a little like getting the gang back together, but this time, it’s on our own terms.’

Jess added: ‘It doesn’t matter if you’re in sports or media, a Fortune 500 company or a start-up, clients demand the utmost performance from their lawyers. The team we have put together at Himsworth Scott has decades of experience which means clients don’t need to pay us to get up to speed. We’re all equally comfortable in the boardrooms of European and US-headquartered multi-national businesses, Asian clients and families and the elite football clubs of the Premier League.’

Chris also stated: ‘We’ve set up this new firm in order to serve our elite client base. The last decade has seen reputation management change more than, possibly, in the prior 50 years. Modern issues need modern solutions from a forward-looking firm. So, a blank sheet of paper combined with five decades of experience is a great way to build a firm that clients need when it matters most. One thing that appeals to clients is the new firm’s independence and the ability to give completely conflict-free advice with their objectives at the heart of what we do.’
