The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) annual essay competition has opened for entries.
The question this year is, ‘Where is the line between legitimate accountability and calling judges ‘enemies of the people?’ The Daily Mail newspaper used this headline on a story on the Supreme Court judges hearing the case in December 2016 on whether Parliamentary approval was required before Theresa May could trigger Article 50, beginning the UK’s exit from the EU. The essay competition is open to LPC students, LPC graduates and trainee solicitors. First prize is £500. The winning and runners-up essays will be published on the JLD website.
Please send no more than 2,000 words by 30 November to juniorlawyers@lawsociety.org.uk.
