Boost for Midlands legal services with partner appointment

KPMG has announced the hire of partner Peter Workman from PwC.

Peter formerly spent four years with PwC, where he led the Midlands corporate legal practice; he has also previously worked at King & Wood Mallesons, Herbert Smith, and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. In his new role with KPMG, he will lead a team of nine lawyers in its Midlands legal services hub, specialising in domestic and cross-border group reorganisations and transactions. Peter frequently acts for private equity sponsors and management teams, financial institutions and public and private companies across a range of sectors.

Nick Roome, KPMG’s UK head of legal services, said: ‘Bringing Peter on board to head up the Midlands legal services hub marks another important milestone in the development of our offering, both in the UK and globally.

‘Peter’s previous big four legal experience means he is part of a growing breed of lawyer that is increasingly in demand—ideally placed to support our clients with the challenges and disruption they face. His breadth of knowledge and broader business perspective, combined with high quality legal expertise and ability to operate effectively within a multi-disciplinary professional services environment, will significantly enhance what we can offer.’

Peter added: ‘I’m excited be part of KPMG Legal’s rapidly expanding business structuring & transactions division. Our clients and their legal teams are coming under increasing pressure to achieve more with less in today’s complex business environment. KPMG is ideally placed to deliver solutions that help in-house teams achieve that. I look forward to working with the Midlands legal services hub, the wider KPMG network and adding value for clients.’
