CIVIL LITIGATION

Datafind Services Ltd v Sugden and others [2007] All ER (D) 145 (Nov)

In an appropriate case, the court can grant summary judgment on some aspects of a claim only, eg where judgment is entered on liability but the issue of quantum remains to be determined. Furthermore, summary judgment can be granted on a discrete issue within a claim where that course of action leads to some form of discrete relief, useful in the context of the proceedings as a whole.
