Sentencing

Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No 4) Order 2007 (SI 2007/2518)

Brings into force, from 1 October 2007, the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006, s 41, which alters the penalty for offences under the Firearms Act 1968, s 19 (possession of a firearm or imitation firearm in a public place).

The offence is triable either way and carries a maximum sentence of seven years following conviction on indictment—12 months in the case of an imitation firearm.
