Other inspiring stories include students who helped create videos to help family court users understand how the court works, delivering workshops on citizenship and helping Shelter duty solicitors support vulnerable clients. Law school success stories include an enterprise clinic that provides free legal advice to start-ups and microbusinesses, a free on-the-spot legal advice scheme and student support for a clinic for refugee family reunion cases run by the British Red Cross.
The annual LawWorks and Attorney General’s awards, sponsored by LexisNexis,
celebrate the wide range of pro bono work by law students and law schools.
Suella Braverman QC, the Attorney General, said: ‘It is fantastic to see so
many students across the UK working hard to give back to their communities by
providing pro bono advice to those in need, and I want to congratulate you on
your efforts.’
James Harper, executive sponsor for rule of law and CSR at LexisNexis, said:
‘The standard of entries this year was incredibly high and is a reflection of
the impressive, innovative and vital pro bono work being delivered across the
country by students and law schools.’
The winners will be announced on 13 May. A thank you event and celebration
will be held later this year, after the end of lockdown restrictions.
