Leadership team of the Bar elected

Criminal silk Claire Davies KC, of Farringdon Chambers, has been elected vice chair of the Bar Council for next year

She will join the leadership team in January alongside Heidi Stonecliffe KC, elected as chair, and Lucinda Orr, re-elected as treasurer. Davies, who prosecutes cases at the Old Bailey, specialises in homicide, organised crime, fraud and sexual offences. She became a Crown Court Recorder in 2016 and took silk in 2022.

Davies said: ‘It is a critical time for the publicly funded Bar and, now more than ever, the whole Bar must remain united in influencing the decisions that shape our future to continue our international reputation.’ She will continue the campaign against jury restrictions and focus on retention of practitioners, recruitment into and encouragement of talent at the Bar.
