Legal executive coroners

Chartered legal executives can be coroners

Fellows of CILEx, known as chartered legal executives, can become coroners, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has confirmed. The reform will be implemented under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009. Chartered legal executives have been eligible for judicial appointments since 2008, extending to district judge posts since 2010. CILEx has about 20,000 members.
