LNB NEWS: Lord Chief Justice speaks at annual press conference at RCJ

The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon, held his annual press conference at the Royal Courts of Justice (RCJ) on 7 February 2023.

Lexis®Library update: In his speech, the Lord Chief Justice highlighted that the judiciary has been working to increase the rate of case completion and to make the courts more transparent. He also mentioned the efforts made to make the judiciary more reflective of society and to enable an inclusive working environment.

The Lord Chief Justice said that there must be more investment to enable enough judges, lawyers and staff, and adequate buildings and IT infrastructure to hear cases promptly, and that judges and magistrates will aim to continue to serve the public and uphold the rule of law and administration of justice.
