Lord Hodge

New Scottish Justice of the Supreme Court

Lord Hodge has been sworn in as a new Scottish Justice of the Supreme Court, joining the UK’s highest court at the start of its fifth year.  He replaces Lord Hope, who has retired after 17 years’ service with the House of Lords and Supreme Court, and joins Lord Reed as the Scottish contingent of the Court. By convention, two justices must have experience of the Scottish legal system. Lord Hodge became an advocate in 1983 and a QC in 1996.
