Magistrates reproved for Facebook posts

Two magistrates have been upbraided for Facebook posts, in separate incidents

Buckinghamshire magistrate Ansar Gulzar JP was reprimanded for serious misconduct for four posts on his Facebook account, which bore his name and image, expressing views on a highly controversial and political subject. The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO) found the posts formed a course of conduct. Gulzar JP accepted he should have chosen his words more carefully and had believed only family and friends could see his posts.

Humber Local magistrate Leslie Wegg JP was issued with formal advice for two posts which identified him as a magistrate but did not contain offensive material.
