Minimum wage changes

Basic rate raised on 1 October

New national minimum wage rates apply from 1 October, with the basic rate rising by £0.12. The new rates are £6.31 per hour for workers aged 21 or over, £5.03 for 18-20 year-olds, £3.72 for 16 and 17 year-olds, and £2.68 for apprentices. The maximum daily deduction or accommodation offset limit where the employer provides lodgings is £4.91. The new rates are set out in the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/1975).
