Double promotion sees two move to associate

Derby-based firm Nelsons has announced the promotion of two of its solicitors to associate positions.

Gareth Protheroe has been with the firm since 2016, and is an expert in family law matters. After qualifying in 2014, he went on to specialise in family cases, particularly in acting on behalf of parents in child proceedings, as well as domestic violence issues. Gareth commented: ‘Nelsons has a well-established and well-respected family department—working across a range of matters including family and children, care proceedings, divorce and domestic violence cases—and I’m really proud to be a part of the team.’

Dispute resolution specialist Lynsey Burke will also move to an associate role. Lynsey qualified in 2009, and joined Nelsons in 2017. She focuses her practice on commercial disputes, in particular professional negligence matters. Lynsey commented: ‘Commercial litigation covers a wide range of industries so I am always dealing with new and interesting challenges. It’s important to keep in mind that there is more than one way to resolve commercial disputes and strategising with the client throughout the life of the claim is the most interesting part of the job.’
