Next Justice appointed to the Supreme Court

Lord Justice Snowden’s appointment to the Supreme Court has been approved by the king

Richard Snowden, who has simultaneously enjoyed a 30-year career as a rugby union referee, was called to the Bar in 1986, practising from Erskine Chambers in company law, corporate insolvency, financial services and commercial litigation.

He took silk in 2003, joined the High Court Chancery Division in 2015 and was promoted to the Court of Appeal six years later. Last March, he was appointed lead judge for international relations for the judiciary.

Snowden LJ said he was ‘deeply honoured’.
