Ocean Legal—Brodie Collar

Ocean Legal welcomes new associate Brodie Collar

Boutique marine law firm Ocean Legal has continued its rapid growth with the arrival of senior associate Brodie Collar, a marine specialist based in Dubai.

Brodie advises individuals, companies, vessel owners and insurers on marine insurance disputes, policy coverage, collisions, yacht casualties, recovery actions and debt recovery. She also advises on the sale and purchase of yachts and superyachts, bringing a practical understanding of the legal, commercial and operational issues that can arise throughout the life of a vessel.

Jennie Harris and Lucy Goff, co-founders of Ocean Legal, comment: "We are delighted to welcome Brodie to the team as a Senior Associate. Having worked with her previously, we know first-hand what a fantastic lawyer Brodie is and are thrilled to be working together again. Her appointment marks another exciting step in the continued growth of the firm, following Russell Kelly joining as a consultant in January and with the invaluable support of Vicky Dickinson in strengthening our business operations."

Formerly an associate at Dubai-based firm Hadef & Partners, Brodie previously trained and practiced as a solicitor at Lester Aldridge.

Brodie works with clients in the UAE, the UK and internationally. Her experience across both contentious and transactional work enables her to provide clear, commercially focused advice, whether assisting with a casualty, resolving a dispute or facilitating a vessel transaction.

Established in 2025, Ocean Legal launched in the UK with a focus on yachts, superyacht and smaller commercial marine vessels. Jennie and Lucy partnered with Excello Law to launch Ocean Legal through Excello’s House of Brands model, a unique platform that allows entrepreneurial lawyers to set up their own practices with support and infrastructure provided by Excello.

Ocean Legal offers transparent fixed-fee pricing in contrast to traditional billable hours, providing a broad spectrum of legal services to a diverse client base including marine insurers, lenders, yacht owners, dealers and brokers, shipyards, ports and harbour authorities. The firm also has immediate access to a network of experienced lawyers across areas including commercial, tax, real estate and employment law thanks to its partnership with Excello Law.
