The airlines are braced for a deluge of claims over delayed flights following recent litigation, but who will ultimately suffer? Smaller airlines operate on tight margins and there have been newspaper reports of airlines raising ticket prices to take account of the extra compensation they may need to pay out. Writing in this week’s NLJ, Rob Williams, partner at Weightmans, asks whether the Dawson v Thomson Airways flight delay compensation ruling will ultimately be seen as a victory or a loss for the consumer.
