IP law firm hires associate

IP law firm Powell Gilbert LLP (PG) has recently appointed solicitor Douglas Jayatilaka as an Associate. He has a technical background in physical science, having completed a BSc in Mathematics with Physics and having further studied nuclear fusion energy.

Since qualifying as a lawyer at the Government Legal Department in September 2021, Douglas has worked in its Commercial Law Group, specialising in commercial litigation. He has represented the Government and instructed counsel on a wide range of matters including in cases before the Supreme Court and CJEU. He has had particular experience working with the Defence Intellectual Property Rights department of the Ministry of Defence, advising on various procurement challenges and contractual disputes.
