Firm hires international insurance partner

Law firm RPC has hired leading international insurance partner Rebecca Hopkirk from Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW).

Rebecca is an international property and casualty expert with over 20 years' experience resolving sizeable claims arising from property damage, onshore and offshore energy, oil and gas, and power generation risks. She advises on both coverage and defence on behalf of the insurance market, notably in relation to refineries, mines, steel production plants and other major industrial units. Acting across Lloyd's and the London Market, Rebecca's practice is almost exclusively international, with a particular focus on the Middle East, North Africa, South America and Japan. Rebecca trained and qualified at HFW, and has spent her whole career supporting the insurance market. She regularly advises on business interruption claims, advanced loss of profit disputes, delays in start-up, and contractors all risks policies.

RPC managing partner Jonathan Watmough says: "Rebecca is a very important strategic hire for us. Her arrival marks the latest step towards building the premier high end insurance practice in the market.

"Rebecca comes with fantastic pedigree, and is known in the sector as one of the leading lawyers acting for the market in cross-border international property and casualty work. What's more, she's clearly got the drive, ambition and creativity to help us grow and develop what we can offer our clients, and has a collaborative approach to working which fits well with our culture here at RPC."

Head of insurance at RPC James Miller says: "As a firm committed to supporting the market in the kind of 'bet-the-farm' claims that Rebecca is well-renowned for, we're very pleased that she's chosen to join RPC, allowing us to continue offering what it is our clients tell us they want."

Rebecca says: "RPC has really impressed me with the way they have adapted to the changing demands of the insurance market and the clients they advise. They've also shown real commitment to growing what they can offer the insurance market internationally, which fits very neatly with my own practice.

"I also like their style of working. RPC has a very modern, open and unstuffy feel about it, but at the same time is committed to delivering results for clients. It's a vibrant combination, and I'm looking forward to getting started."
