Value of M&A deals reached £141bn in first half of year

Foreign investors are increasingly buying up high-value UK businesses, according to recent merger and acquisition (M&A) figures compiled by Experian. The value of M&A deals reached a total of £141bn in the first half of this year—a rise of 30% on the same period last year.

Large deals worth more than £1bn were more common—there were 24 deals worth a total of £92.3bn, of which 16 were acquisitions of UK companies by overseas firms (compared to just eight £1bn-plus foreign purchases in the same period last year). However, the total volume of deals was reduced.
