Commercial litigator returns to first firm

Midlands and East Anglia firm Roythornes Solicitors has welcomed commercial litigator Desley Sherwin to the firm as an associate solicitor.

Joining from her former position of partner with Chattertons Solicitors in Lincolnshire, Desley returns to the firm where she completed her legal training more than 25 years ago. She now joins Roythornes’ commercial litigation and employment team, and will divide her time between the Alconbury branch and the head office in Spalding.

Desley said: ‘I’m really looking forward to this new challenge—it’s a chance to be part of one of the 1,000 most influential companies in the UK and a top 200 law firm which has a fantastic reputation in the region as well as nationally.

‘I’m going to be splitting my time between the Spalding and Alconbury offices in a bid to grow the Alconbury offering as it’s a relatively new base for Roythornes. The chance to work on large scale projects, the type that you would expect from a London firm, but in my home region is incredibly exciting. I’m also particularly interested in learning about different areas of agricultural law: Roythornes possesses a huge amount of expertise in this industry.’

Vember Mortlock, managing director at Roythornes Solicitors, added: ‘Desley’s return to Roythornes shows how much we’ve grown as a firm over the last 30 years. As a lawyer, you no longer need to travel to a big city to work with national brands and that’s just one of the many things helping attract new talent.’
