Single patent

European ministers reached a landmark agreement on a single European patent this week, at a meeting of the Competitiveness Council in Luxembourg.

For the first time in 60 years, ministers agreed on the languages regime for the patent—the number of languages which applicants need to file to get their patent. They also agreed on the technical details of the patent itself.
