Budgen, who has worked on landmark cases, said it was ‘staggering’ that people were still affected by asbestos use ‘over 100 years after its dangers became clear’.
Solicitor Kwadjo Adjepong, who sits as a judge on the Court of Arbitration for Sport, received an OBE for services to sports and sports law. Adjepong, who has also worked in-house at a range of institutions including the Competition and Markets Authority, said: ‘I have been fortunate enough to train and work with outstanding lawyers, athletes and organisations throughout my career.’
An OBE also went to Professor Richard Moorhead, of the University of Exeter, who has championed Post Office victims wrongly convicted or accused due to the faulty Horizon system and helped ensure lawyers will be held to account for their role in the scandal.
