Wanted: next Justice of the Supreme Court!

Lord Reed, president of the Supreme Court, has released a video where he personally explains what the role entails, to coincide with the recruitment process for another Justice

Lord Reed, who is Scottish, is due to retire in January. By convention there have always been two Scottish Justices in the Supreme Court. Applications for the next Justice opened last week and are due to close on 25 August.

Lord Reed said: ‘Whether it is interpreting commercial law or deciding on questions about human rights or personal liberty, the decisions made here set the legal direction of travel for the UK, usually for decades to come.’
