The Association of Costs Lawyers (ACL) has introduced a ‘costs paralegal’ title to encourage newcomers to pursue a career in costs.

The category is aimed at paralegals who are likely to undertake the Costs Lawyer Professional Qualification (CLPQ) in the next few years. Traditionally, people have come to costs through working in other litigation roles.

ACL chair David Bailey-Vella said: ‘We obviously want to encourage those starting out in the law to commit to a career in costs and hope that the new costs paralegal status will act as another rung on the ladder.’
