Andrew Brennan—SGH Martineau

New IP & technology team partner

SGH Martineau has promoted Andrew Brennan, a member of the firm’s intellectual property and technology (IPT) team to partner.

Brennan advises on both contentious and non-contentious IP and technology related matters representing technology and creative start-ups through to global multinationals, particularly within the retail and manufacturing sectors. He also has significant experience in the education sector and represents leading research-intensive universities in relation to the funding, development and commercialisation of their technologies through sale, franchising, spin-outs, collaboration and joint ventures.

Commenting on his promotion, Brennan says: “I joined SGH Martineau in 2012 because the firm had a good reputation across all practice areas, but especially for intellectual property and technology work. It’s a firm with good people and an inclusive culture that encourages an entrepreneurial spirit.

“We are at the start of an exciting journey with the launch of our new sector-focussed strategic plan, which channels our expertise into advising clients in a few carefully chosen sectors, where we already have a strong reputation. I’m part of a creative team developing a number of innovative, fixed price packages that I’m confident will strengthen our IPT offering locally and nationally to organisations of every size, in any sector.”

Andrew Whitehead, senior partner at SGH Martineau, says: “This is a well-deserved promotion to partner for Andrew and recognises the contribution he is making to the success of this firm and the positive difference he is making to our clients. He is a confident, talented lawyer who truly puts his clients’ interests first, an approach appreciated by clients and colleagues alike."
