Housing recruits for Cornerstone
Andrew Lane and Dean Underwood have joined Cornerstone Barristers from Hardwicke. Both are regularly involved in high profile housing cases in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, the High Court and tribunals, instructed by leading solicitors, local authorities and private registered providers.
Andy Lane has significant experience in nuisance actions (possession and injunction), tenancy fraud, Equality Act 2010 and Human Rights Act 1998 defences and challenges, homelessness, Part VI allocations, and social landlord and tenant work generally. He also advises on council tax and social security law, and acts on behalf of local authorities in the Children Act field.
Dean Underwood specialises in housing and related public and administrative law, including community care, Court of Protection, homelessness and housing allocation. He has a particular interest in the reform of the welfare benefits system. A well-regarded commentator and conference speaker, he provides training for the Chartered Institute of Housing in housing and public law.
Head of chambers Philip Kolvin QC comments: ‘We look forward to Andy and Dean joining Cornerstone’s public law group, which includes some of the UK’s foremost housing practitioners ranked in the top band by Chambers UK. They are both excellent barristers who share our ethos of responsiveness, approachability and the best possible client service. We are delighted they have chosen to join us."
