Firm expands London office with partner appointment
Hausfeld has strengthened its European practice with the hire of Anna Morfey. Anna joins Hausfeld as a partner from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, where she was previously a senior associate.
Anna’s appointment will further bolster Hausfeld’s ability to service its growing and high-profile caseload, given recent changes to the law, and to help maintain the firm’s position at the forefront of private enforcement.
Having spent three years working in Brussels before moving to London, Anna’s practice comprises all aspects of contentious and non-contentious EU and competition law. She has a wealth of experience in European and domestic antitrust investigations, follow-on damages claims, and merger transactions, having worked for clients from a great variety of sectors, including financial services, defence, consumer products, manufacturing and hi-tech.
Anna has extensive experience of competition and EU litigation in the High Court, Competition Appeal Tribunal, Court of Appeal and House of Lords/Supreme Court and, at European level, in the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).
Anthony Maton, managing partner of Hausfeld London, says: “Anna’s expertise and skills in multi-jurisdictional cartel investigations and follow-on damages claims, particularly on the defence side, make her a valuable addition to our market-leading team as we continue to increase our planned programme of cases, further enabling victims of competition infringements to seek redress.”
Anna adds: “With the Consumer Rights Act and EU Damages Directive coming into force, there are now tremendous opportunities for victims of cartels and other anti-competitive practices to seek redress in the English courts and across the EU. I am delighted to be joining the Hausfeld team and look forward to contributing to their first-rate practice.”
