Workplace law and commercial disputes specialist Bellevue Law has appointed Sara Mason as a Senior Consultant within its Workplace Law team, expanding the firm’s offering into healthcare regulation.

Sara’s appointment marks the addition of a new specialist area to Bellevue Law’s workplace law practice, giving healthcare professionals access to senior-level expertise across professional regulation, investigations, professional conduct, inquests and related proceedings.

Sara brings more than 30 years’ experience advising and representing doctors, nurses, dentists and other healthcare professionals on complex regulatory, healthcare and medico-legal matters.

Called to the Bar in 1992 and admitted as a solicitor in 1997, Sara has extensive experience defending healthcare professionals in regulatory investigations and proceedings before the General Medical Council (GMC), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and General Dental Council (GDC).

Her practice covers the full range of professional regulatory matters, including fitness to practise investigations and hearings, Interim Orders Tribunal proceedings, appeals and judicial review claims in the High Court. She also advises on MHPS investigations, NHS England Performer List matters and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) proceedings.

Sara also has significant experience representing healthcare professionals in inquests, supporting clients through all stages of coronial proceedings, from reviewing evidence and preparing witnesses through to advocacy at hearings. In addition, she has advised and represented clinicians facing criminal investigations and prosecutions, including cases where professional regulatory and reputational issues arise alongside criminal allegations.

Before joining Bellevue Law, Sara practised as a Consultant Solicitor and previously spent more than two decades with MDU Services Limited, following earlier experience at Hempsons Solicitors.

Sara holds a Master’s degree with Distinction in Medical Law and Ethics from King’s College London, where she was awarded the Sir Eric Scowen Prize for academic excellence. She has also contributed to the wider healthcare and regulatory law community as a Trustee and Secretary of the UK Clinical Ethics Network and as a Committee Member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers.
